Heartland House/Bright Futures

Professional Resources : Instruct residents on resume writing, job searching, job application process, interview and job skills. Flexible schedule.

Mentor : Accompany Heartland House children on group outings. Foster positive relationships with children as well as serve as positive role model and motivate them to make good decisions. May involve a group of volunteers. May choose volunteer times as available. 

Tutor : Tutor adults and/or children of different educational backgrounds. Prepare adult residents for their high school or GED tests. Flexible schedule. Must have high school diploma or equivalent when tutoring adults. 

Residence Living Preparation : Prepare apartments for resident move-in by replacing furniture and stocking apartments with basic living supplies. Must be on call and come as needed with a week's notice. Ability to perform physical labor may be required. 

Donation Attendant : Organize, place, sort and transport donations. Oversee the donation room during client pick up. Once a week or once every other week for two to five hours. Possible Saturday afternoon or morning shifts. 

Donation Request - Church, School, Service Clubs & Groups : Request donations through church, school systems, service clubs and/or groups. Organize and recruit groups to host donation drives, develop and coordinate donation drives and present information to groups. As much time as needed for monthly drives and/or donation gathering. 

Donation Request - Business : Contact area businesses to request donations and then organize received donations. Five to ten hours a month as needed to secure an adequate amount donations as identified by the supervisor. 

Donation Request - Rewards/Incentives : Contact businesses and individuals to donate rewards/incentives for residents and organize donations. Five to ten hours a month as needed to secure donations as identified by supervisor. 

Store Donation Pick Up : Utilize agency vehicle to pick up store donations. Once a week for one to five hours as needed. Ability to perform physical labor may be required. 

Resident Transportation : Provide transportation to residents for necessary tasks (e.g. job search & grocery shopping). One to five hours a week as needed. 
 
Child Care Assistant : Interact and play with children by means of activities, discussion and reading. Assist all children and perform other duties assigned by staff members. Prior childcare experience helpful. Two hours once a month.

Volunteer Service Network (Lake County) 
 
In Town Driver : Drive clients to and from locations in Madison . May need to assist clients in and out of car, with shopping and accompany them as needed. Must have a clean and reliable car with a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle liability insurance. One to five hours per week as needed. 

Out of Town Driver : Drive clients to medical appointments out of town within a 50 mile radius. May need to help clients in and out of car and accompany them as needed. Must have a clean and reliable car with a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle liability insurance. Two to eight hours per week as needed. 

Community Activities
 
Office Assistant : File account records in assigned places. Shred designated items, bag shredded paper and deposit in dumpster. Must be able to alphabetize for filing. One to eight hours per week as needed. 

Community Information Assistant : Contact area businesses and churches and ask permission to display agency program flyers. Tape or pushpin flyer in the allocated area. Can be done on own time schedule with a week's notice. Two to five hours until flyers are distributed. 
 
Bulk Mailing Assistant : Fold, stuff and seal envelopes as directed. Attach adhesive mailing labels and prepare for mailing as directed. Organizational skills preferred and must be able to follow verbal instructions. Four to six hours per mailing and must be on call with two days notice. 
 
Food Pantry

Food Distributor : Dispense food and personal items as needed from approved lists. Complete grocery store voucher and Food Pantry Items Received¬Ě forms. One to two days a week as needed on pre-determined days. 

Clerical Assistant : Estimate value of items dispensed. Calculate the total, tally commodities and record information on appropriate forms and file information. Basic math skills are required and a background with calculators, estimating and food costs are helpful. Flexible schedule with one to three hours per week as needed. 

Pantry Stock Organizer : Pick up food/supplies at area businesses and storage area. Stock items into appropriate places in the food pantry and mark all commodity items. Must be on call with one days notice for two to five hours per week. 
 
Head Start Pre-Birth to Five

imageClassroom Assistant : Interact and play with children using a variety of methods such as play activities, discussion and reading. Assist in classroom set up, cleaning and helping children, as well as perform other duties assigned by staff members. Prior childcare experience helpful. Available on weekdays when center is open. 

PALS Assistant : Interact and play with children using a variety of methods such as play activities, discussion and reading. Assist with set up and clean up as well as perform other duties assigned by staff members. Prior childcare experience helpful. Two to fours hours during scheduled PALS group activities.

In communities across the nation, people are choosing to give back to their communities by volunteering their time.  Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership has the opportunity to volunteer their time or to receive services from a volunteer.  Anyone twelve (12) years of age and older may volunteer.
