Protective Payee

Self-sufficiency is the primary goal for ICAP's programs. There are cases in which the participants require an intense level of assistance, due to the wide variety of their needs. The Coach works with the participants to create a self-sufficiency plan, which sets out the goals that the participant will work toward and also incorporates a timeline. The Coach then assists the participant to complete the goals. In some cases, the Coach also acts as a protective payee for the participant. In that situation, the Coach manages the participant's income, pays bills, buys groceries and other necessities, and in general manages the participant's finances for a period of time. The Coach, at the same time, helps the participant learn how to manage his/her income.
