Kitchen Assistant 60’s Plus Dining Program, Brookings

Duties: • Responsible for assisting in preparation of meals. • Portion and garnish hot cooked foods, such as meat and vegetables, into individual serving dishes and portion cold foods, such as salads and fruits, into individual serving dishes for home-delivered meals as deemed necessary. • Observe and test foods being cooked by tasting, smelling and monitoring temperature to determine that it is cooked correctly. Document food temperatures according to established methods. • Clean work areas, equipment and utensils, and segregate and remove garbage. • Interact with participants.

Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED. • Related experience and/or training preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hours / FLSA Status: • 20 hours (Monday through Friday) • Nonexempt position

Grade 1 Salary Range: • $8.85-$9.80 per hour, based on experience
