Finding affordable housing can be challenging, especially when the cost of a security deposit creates a barrier to obtaining housing. When funding is available, ICAP may be able to provide Security Deposit Assistance to eligible households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
This program is designed to help individuals and families move into safe, stable housing and reduce housing instability within our communities.
Security Deposit Assistance is only available when funding is available. Assistance is dependent upon available program funding and resources and cannot be guaranteed.
To be considered for Security Deposit Assistance:
• Households must be homeless or at risk of homelessness.
• The housing crisis must be verifiable through appropriate documentation.
• The rental unit must meet applicable program rent limits.
• Additional eligibility requirements may apply depending on the funding source and program guidelines.
Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee assistance.
Applications may be completed:
• Through the ICAP KIOSK: https://www.interlakescap.com/custom/client-information
• In person at your local ICAP office by calling ahead to schedule an appointment.
To determine eligibility, applicants must provide:
• A valid photo ID (if available)
• Social Security cards for all household members
• Verification of all household income, including but not limited to:
o Wages or pay stubs
o Child support
o Social Security benefits
o Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
o Unemployment benefits
o Retirement or pension income
o Any other sources of household income
Additional documentation may be required to verify homelessness, risk of homelessness, housing costs, rental unit information, and other program eligibility requirements.
Individuals seeking Security Deposit Assistance should contact their local ICAP office to verify funding availability, discuss eligibility requirements, and schedule an appointment with a Community Coordinator.
For the fastest service, applicants are encouraged to complete an application through the ICAP KIOSK before their appointment.
